I use this every day and it finally got user friendly. Managing the feeds was a pain, but now I can manage the feeds in Google Reader. Here are a few improvements I really like:
Basically BlueProximity is a tool to detect your presence near your computer. It can automatically lock your computer once you leave it and unlock it when you are back. I’m using a HTC Hero (Android 1.5) to connect with Ubuntu 9.10. Without Blueman Bluetooth Manager my phone does not auto-connect and the Measured atm in BlueProximity keeps jumping from 0 to 255.
$ sudo apt-get install blueproximity
$ wget http://ovh.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/blueproximity/blueproximity_1.2.4-0ubuntu1_all.deb
$ sudo dpkg -i blueproximity_1.2.4-0ubuntu1_all.deb
Go to Applications > Ubuntu Software Center > Install Blueman Bluetooth Manager

System > Preferences > Bluetooth > Click Set up new device…

Make sure your phone is “discoverable” and click Forward.

Select your phone and click Forward

Enter your PIN on the phone.

Ubuntu is now successfully paired with a new device.

Go to System > Preferences > Bluetooth Manager and check if your device is connected.

Go to Accessories > BlueProximity > Bluetooth Device > Scan for devices

Select your device and click Scan channels on device.
Select a channel that is usable. On my device channel 2 is usable, but will not work with BlueProximity. Just try a few..

Go to Proximity Details. These are my settings, but depending on your bluetooth adapter and phone you may want to tweak this.
If your phone isn’t connected to a usable RFCOMM channel, the Measured atm keeps jumping from 0 to 255.

You can set your locking/unlocking commands.For Ubuntu use the gnome-screensaver-command
You can also attach a script that stops your music and updates the pidgin status.

Now reboot your system. If you want to change settings you have to close the BlueProximity Preferences screen, because it will run in simulation mode (locking disabeld). At first I didn’t see this and the system would not lock..
Leave it – it’s locked, come back – it’s back too…
HTC is cooking an Android 2.1 ROM and according to Glenn from Meteor it will be released around March. It just feels like Christmas..

Hi all,
Sorry for the delay in response here. I had posted on another thread announcing the launch of version 2.0, so when I heard that this may be being skipped to go straight to 2.1, I went to do a little more investigating.
We’ve been in contact with HTC and they have said that version 2.0 will be available in and around March of this year. HTC sense UI will be tightly integrated with Android 2.0, as with other versions of the software. Because of this new versions of the software take a while to develop. As for 2.1 this would also need to be developed and there is no update on this.
Sorry if there was any confusion here and if I hear any more on this I’ll make sure to let you all know.
Hope this helps

Add and remove music without iTunes, just run SharePod from your iPod.

1. Download SharePod, unzip it and copy the folder to your iPod.
2. Go to your iPod drive and double-click the SharePod.exe file.
3. Click ‘Copy To iPod’ or just drag mp3s into SharePod.
4. Use the ‘Eject iPod’ button when you are done.
